Blacktopping of 3.3 Km Two-Lane Road (with Project Manager, SASEC PIU) (2024-2025)

The project involves blacktopping of 3.3 kilometers of two-lane road, executed under the supervision of the Project Manager, South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) Project Implementation Unit (PIU).

Scope of Work:

  1. Surface Preparation – Cleaning, leveling, and compacting the existing formation.

  2. Base & Sub-base Strengthening – Placement of granular sub-base and wet mix macadam layers for structural stability.

  3. Bituminous Work – Application of primer coat, tack coat, and dense bituminous macadam, followed by bituminous concrete surfacing.

  4. Road Markings & Safety – Provision of lane markings, edge lines, and essential road safety furniture.

Objectives:

  • To provide a smooth, durable, and weather-resistant road surface.

  • To enhance driving comfort and safety for commuters.

  • To strengthen connectivity within the project corridor.

  • To align with SASEC’s regional transport improvement agenda, ensuring cross-border trade efficiency and sustainable infrastructure.

The successful completion of this project will not only improve local accessibility but also contribute to Bhutan’s regional connectivity and economic integration goals under the SASEC framework.
